What is the Tor Network?
Tor helps keep you safe on the Internet. It protects you by bouncing your communications around a distributed network of relays run by volunteers all around the world: it prevents somebody watching your Internet connection from learning what sites you visit, and it prevents the sites you visit from learning your physical location. This set of volunteer relays is called the Tor network.
How Tor Browser Works?
Tor Browser routes all your web traffic through the Tor network, anonymizing it. Tor consists of a three-layer proxy, like layers of an onion (thus the logo). Tor Browser connects at random to one of the publicly listed entry nodes, bounces that traffic through a randomly selected middle relay, and finally spits out your traffic through the third and final exit node. As a result, don't be surprised if Google or another service greets you in a foreign tongue. These services look at your IP address and guesstimate your country and language, but when using Tor, you will often appear to be in a physical location halfway around the world.
Is it legal to use the Tor Browser?
Tor Browser is completely legal to use. In some countries, however, Tor is either illegal or blocked by national authorities. Tor is short for The Onion Router and was initially a worldwide network of servers developed with the U.S. Navy that enabled people to browse the internet anonymously. Now, it's a non-profit organization whose main purpose is the research and development of online privacy tools.
How to Download Tor Browser?
- Go to Google and search for Tor Browser.
- Click on the first link 'Download Tor Browser - Tor Project'. Here is Direct link to TorProject.org: https://www.torproject.org/download/
- Click on Download for Windows. It will Start Downloading the setup file.
- After Download run the setup as administrator.
- Select the language and location where you want to install and click on the install button.
- Setup will finish installing and you will see Tor Browser icon on the desktop. Double click and open, it will ask for network configuration simply click on connect and it will start the browser.
